35 year old vines in Mazoyres-Chambertin. Rich purple with a seductively perfumed nose, sweetly ripe up front, broad and a little oaky across the palate, long and deeply charming. Not massive, needs a little more extraction to bring it out this far, not so mineral as some Mazoyres but still very pleasing. Tasted Nov 2020.

The rocky subsoil is highly resistant but fissured, allowing the vine roots to dig down deep, hence their surprising longevity. Certain plots can reach up to 100 years\’ of age.
